Basic Training Course - DHUD Entry-Level Certificate

Target Audience

All dentists who are new to sleep dentistry or who are interested in this field

Duration of Course

All dentists who are new to sleep dentistry or who are interested in this field

Prerequisite

All dentists who are new to sleep dentistry or who are interested in this field

  • The Anatomy and Physiology of Sleep
  • Classification of sleep-related breathing disorders
  • OSA diagnostic criteria and polysomnography interpretation
  • Types of oral appliances and their indications
  • MIA production: measurement, design, activation
  • Patient selection and treatment planning
  • Multidisciplinary coordination: collaboration with pulmonology, otolaryngology, and neurology
  • Side effects and patient management
  • Clinical documents and patient forms

DHUD Basic Training Certificate

Upon completion of the course, participants receive the “DHUD Basic Training Certificate.” This certificate grants the right to be listed as a trained member on the “Find a Sleep Dentist” page.

Advanced Training Course — DHUD Advanced Level Certificate

Target Audience

Dentists who have completed their basic training and gained clinical experience

Duration of Training

Advanced theoretical + case studies

Prerequisite

DHUD Basic Training Certificate and a minimum of 6 months of clinical experience

  • Advanced case management and complex cases
  • The Use of Oral Appliances in Cases of CPAP Non-compliance
  • The Co-occurrence of Bruxism and OSA
  • Temporomandibular Joint Evaluation
  • Measuring treatment efficacy: sleep tracking apps
  • Writing hospital/clinic protocols
  • A review of the current international literature
